Visum/Visa - online application process

If you wish to visit Denmark, Faroe Island or Greenland for a short period of time and you are a citizen of a country with a visa requirement, you must have a visa. A visa normally grants you the right to stay in the entire Schengen region for up to 30 days. If you wish to stay in Denmark for a longer time, you must apply for a residence permit.

APPLYVISA:

Please find relevant visa online application forms here : www.newtodenmark.dk

All applicants applying for a visum to Danmark, the Faroe Islands and/or Greenland should apply and pay for their visa application via the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: applyvisa.um.dk.

Even if you are in the possession of an EU residence permit, you still have to apply for a visum to Greenland and the Faroe Islands!

  1. You should fill in your visa application and pay the application fee online using https://applyvisa.um.dk/. When you apply for a visa, you should choose the location where you wish to submit your application.
  2. After you have applied and paid the visa fee online, you must print and sign the cover letter from ApplyVisa.
  3. Use the checklist (here below as well) to gather your documents.
  4. Make an appointment with the Danish Embassy in Belgium to hand in supporting documents and have your biometrics recorded.
  5. Allow for a 15-day processing period before expecting a first reply.
  6. After these 15 days, and if necessary, you are welcome to contact the VISUM department at the Danish Embassy in London:
  • Telephone: +44 207 333 0200 (choose option #1) Monday – Friday: 10.00–12.00 and 13.00–15.00.
  • E-mail: [email protected]

Note: The visa application fee for the Danish mission will not be refunded in case of refusal, only in case of withdrawal before the case processing has started.

VISA DOCUMENTATION CHECKLIST

The following documents are required when applying for a visa. However, The Danish Immigration Service and the Embassy may ask for additional documentation at any time in order to process the application. Please be informed that the application may be refused if supporting documents are not handed in together with the application. If missing supporting documents are not presented promptly (within 5 days of submission), the Embassy may refuse the visa application. The decision will normally take place within 30 calendar days, provided all required documentation is handed in. The period may be extended in individual cases, if further scrutiny of the application is needed and is submitted to the Danish Immigration Service.
